When it is time to organize, whether it is your bedroom, kitchen cabinets, or a pile of papers, the process can be daunting. You may even ask yourself, “How can I possibly get through all of this?” Well, take a breath and don’t get too discouraged because we have some tips that may save you some time, money and hopefully give you that encouragement you need to throw your shoes on and tackle that project.
The Power of the Clear Box: Using clear boxes and plastic drawer organizers allows you to see the items without having to go rummaging through and making a mess. You can take it a step further by adding a label on the box or add a list, table, or images to the note application on your phone. As you pack up your box, assign it a number and write that number on the side of the box. Then in your note app on your phone, list everything in that box under the corresponding number. You can even attach a picture! For example, a box labeled #25 listed on your phone shows you have Movies. Clicking on that list shows the image you took the day you packed it or a list of every movie in that box.
You can also use clear containers and glass jars for your kitchen clutter. It’s a simple, elegant, and clean way to stay organized. Add a chalkboard sticker to the front of the container, and now you can quickly identify what’s in the jar. Change it frequently, and still keep it organized and elegant.
Conquering the dreaded paper clutter: The easiest solution to this problem is to go paperless and shred your personal documents. There are many applications you can use to store your information. Online resources such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Sync, IDrive, and the list goes on, are great ways to go paperless. However, if you cannot stand the idea of having all of your personal information stored in the cloud or online, here are some ideas for you.
Most importantly, shred what you do not need. It’s a simple concept, yet sometimes we forget that we need to shred documents. It’s very easy just to toss a paper and not look at it, but the fact is that criminals are out there, and they do not think like the average law-abiding citizen. In 2020, 4.8 million identity theft and fraudulent reports were disclosed. That’s an increase of 45 percent from 20191. What can we learn from this? Criminals will not think twice about digging through your trash to find what they need. You can buy a credit card and paper shredder for as low as $40. Instead of being mindful about every piece of paper you are throwing away, shred it. Keep your information safe.
Once you have sorted through your papers and determined what you need to keep, you need to store them.
